Amalgamations - What is the LNP motivation here?

You have to wonder what the motivation is of the LNP to ram home the series of unwanted amalgamations across NSW. 

It is abundantly clear when you look at the most recent amalgamations in Qld that there are ongoing and increasing costs associated with such a move. Infact de-amalgamation is the order of the day click here

If the argument is that it makes good economic sense then they need to put up accurate evidence to support the claim. So why are they insisting that this unwanted, ill conceived, costly debacle goes ahead?

There are legal challenges ahead and it is even suggested that they may have used the wrong legislative mechanism to bring it all as far as it has gone so far....
